Manchester City expect to sign Kevin De Bruyne for £54million within the next 24 hours.
Wolfsburg
sporting director Klaus Allofs has claimed De Bruyne's transfer will be
completed 'either tonight or tomorrow' with the attacker left out of
the squad against Schalke on Friday.
Manuel
Pellegrini has been chasing the former Chelsea winger throughout the
summer's transfer window with only minor formalities now standing
between City and their target.
Allofs said: 'We will complete everything either tonight or tomorrow.
'De
Bruyne is off to Manchester City. I explained at the press conference
that we had begun talks, those talks have progressed. Now only minor
issues remain.'
Provided
the deal goes ahead, De Bruyne will become City's most expensive player
in history following Raheem Sterling's arrival from Liverpool for
£49m.
Speaking
after their draw for the Champions League group stages, City's head of
football administration Brian Marwood reiterated the club's interest in
De Bruyne.
Marwood
said: 'Everybody is aware we are interested in this player but until
anything is done it's not appropriate for us to make any comment.'
